Shanghai's 75 scenic spots will offer half-priced or free tickets to visitors on China Tourism Day, which began in 2011 and falls on May 19 every year.
The move is part of a series of public benefit activities to be held nationwide inspired by the festival.
Many popular scenic spots offering discounted tickets, including the Oriental Pearl Radio & TV Tower, the World Financial Center Observatory, Shanghai Natural Wild Insect Kingdom, Shanghai Science & Technology Museum, and Shanghai Ocean Aquarium, are located in the city's Lujiazui area.
Most notably, the observatory of the Shanghai Tower, China's tallest building at the height of 632 meters, is also on the discounted list. The observatory, which was open to the public in April this year, is a perfect place to have a magnificent view of all of Shanghai.
Although the Shanghai Disney Resort will not be offering discounts, its two neighbors – a vanilla park and an ecological park located at the Shanghai International Tourism and Resorts Zone -- will welcome visitors for free.
Visitor numbers are expected to be high on May 19 and readers are reminded that limited tickets are available at certain scenic spots.
