
Introduction
- The Hebei Museum was originally founded in 1953 in the then capital city of Baoding. In 1982 it moved southwest to Shijiazhuang, the newly designated capital of the province. Hebei Museum houses a collection of 240,000 works of art, rare books and fossils, the signature part of which lies in the cultural artifacts excavated from the Western Han Dynasty (206 BC-AD 24) tombs in Mancheng county, the blue and white porcelain of the Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368), and Quyang county’s white marble sculptures.
