Signature specialties under the "Guilin Gift" brand – including Guilin rice noodles, luohanguo (monk fruit) and persimmon products – stole the limelight at the 59th Hong Kong Brands and Products Expo, selling out entirely and elevating the city's appeal in China's Hong Kong and Macao.
First held in 1934, the expo is a long-standing comprehensive trade event with a stellar reputation. This year's edition brought together renowned brands across the food, health products, home goods and electronics industries, generating around HK$1 billion ($128.2 million) in sales and reflecting the vibrancy of Hong Kong's consumer market.
Initiated by Guilin municipal bureau of commerce, "Guilin Gift" curates premium products that embody the city's regional traits and cultural heritage, spanning specialty foods, industrial and agricultural goods, arts and crafts, and cultural creations.
The expo served as a key platform for "Guilin Gift" to make its mark on the international stage. In addition to selling out, the products won widespread praise from Hong Kong residents.
"These items carry Guilin's natural beauty and local charm, sparking a strong desire to visit. I'll definitely buy more 'Guilin Gift' when I travel there," said one local shopper.
Another bureau representative chimed in: "'Guilin Gift' is more than mere merchandise – it's a condensed symbol of Guilin's landscapes and culture, a tangible memory of Guilin for visitors."
Through the expo platform, the brand has expanded overseas channels, with each product acting as a bridge to promote Guilin's cultural tourism and economic growth.
Moving forward, Guilin will deepen the brand's development to make it a shining card for building a world-class tourist city and international consumption center.
