In the Huangshui River and Yellow River valleys of Qinghai province, early people created splendid painted pottery art. Bold lines, imaginative patterns, and striking colors turned everyday vessels unique and attractive.

Now on view at the Oriental Metropolitan Museum (The 3rd-6th Century) in Nanjing, Jiangsu province, an exhibition traces the full development of painted pottery in the Hehuang region, featuring treasures from the Majiayao, Qijia, and Xindian cultures of the Neolithic period. Together, diverse forms of vessels reveal exceptional craftsmanship and a refined sense of beauty.

Dates: Until April 6
