Brazilian girl wins award for Taizhou-inspired work

Ana Paula Lima, a Brazilian fan of Chinese culture, recently shared some exciting news with Taizhou: her entry in the 2025 photography contest themed "China's Modernization Through My Eyes", organized by the Chinese Consulate General in Sao Paulo, won second prize.

Her award-winning piece featured a traditional phoenix crown gifted by the city of Taizhou.

Lima has long shared a special bond with Taizhou through her love of Mei Lanfang and Peking Opera. In recent years, she has actively engaged with the city, exchanging stamps and collectibles, while Taizhou gifted her a Peking Opera phoenix crown, Mei Lanfang DVDs, and other Peking Opera collections.

Together with her colleagues, who also share a passion for Chinese culture, she launched an Instagram account for GECHINA UnB (China Study Group of the University of Brasilia), actively promoting traditional Chinese culture to a global audience.

These interactions highlight Taizhou's growing cultural outreach and the city's efforts to share China's artistic heritage with people around the world.
