The cargo and mail throughput of Xi'an Xianyang International Airport has reached 321,500 metric tons by Dec 18, achieving its annual development target 14 days ahead of schedule, a year-on-year increase of 15.6 percent, ranking first in growth rate among China's top 10 airports.
China West Airport Group Air Logistics Co has been expanding the Xi'an Logistics Park in recent years and has built the east sector cargo station. Once put into operation on Dec 25, the airport's annual cargo and mail support capacity will exceed 1 million tons.
The total import and export value of Shaanxi province reached 472.04 billion yuan ($67.04 billion) from January to November this year, a year-on-year increase of 13.7 percent. More than half of the goods were transported by air, and the supporting role of air logistics in developing an outward-oriented economy has become increasingly significant.
Since the beginning of this year, the airport has opened five new regular international all-cargo routes to Chicago, Milan, Madrid, Tbilisi, and Debrecen, resulting in a 115 percent year‑on‑year increase in international cargo volume.
It has also built China's first aviation emergency service center for dangerous goods, and the volume of explosives transported grew 76 percent year-on-year, ranking first in the country.
Focusing on leading enterprises in Shaanxi, such as Samsung and BYD, the company has launched a "one enterprise, one solution" exclusive guarantee service to enhance its high-end customer service capabilities. It has also launched eight strategic cooperation projects with top logistics companies, including SF Express and ZTO Express, with its express delivery business growing by 10.2 percent year-on-year, 5.2 percentage points higher than the national average.
