The documentary Xiaotangshanpremiered on Dec 1 at the launch ceremony of the "Explore Jinan through National Treasures" event.

It focuses on the Xiaotang Mountain Guo Family Ancestral Shrine, located in Changqing district, Jinan, recognized as the oldest surviving above-ground house in China.

Built during the Eastern Han Dynasty (25–220), the ancestral hall became a nationally protected cultural heritage site in 1961. Its interior murals display a variety of themes that range from astronomy and mythology to historical events and everyday life, offering a vivid glimpse into Han culture.

The 30-minute documentary explores three main dimensions: the identity of the tomb owner, the hall's connections with cultural figures such as geographer Li Daoyuan (470–527) and scholar Zhao Mingcheng (1081–1129), and the key murals along with their significance.

Using 3D scanning, projection mapping, and other advanced technologies, the exhibition brings the murals to life while creating an immersive experience that blends history and art.
