The 2025 Key & Core Technology Conference was held on November 4 in Xi'an, Northwest China's Shaanxi province, to further promote the deep integration and development of photon technology and AI.

The conference highlighted the strong growth of Shaanxi‘s photonics industry, which has achieved notable progress in technology research and platform development, laying a solid foundation for the deep convergence of AI and photonic technologies.

Experts and industry leaders in optics and photonics focused on the cutting-edge theme of "Light and AI", delivering keynote speeches, signing cooperation agreements, and conducting technology roadshows.

ccording to Fu Yuxi, deputy director of the Xi'an Institute of Optics and Precision Mechanics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the province's photon technology laboratory has entered a key development stage and is expected to be fully completed by 2027.

In promoting "ecosystem integration," the conference also featured initiatives aimed at shifting the photonics industry from "individual strengths" to "systematic collaboration."

At the signing ceremony for the Qinchuangyuan photonics industry innovation cluster, multiple enterprises signed cooperation agreements to accelerate the aggregation of innovation, talent, and technological resources. It aims to cultivate talent through an integrated science-education system, and foster an industrial ecosystem of nearly 200 photonics enterprises.

The conference also hosted a strategic cooperation signing ceremony on advanced semiconductor equipment, enhancing collaboration in upstream segments of the photonics industry chain.

Several companies presented their latest innovations, including photonic AI chips, aerospace private domain models, and intelligent sensing devices, contributing to cutting-edge exchanges and coordinated industry development.

The event was co-hosted by the Xi'an Institute of Optics and Precision Mechanics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the management committee of Xi'an High-tech Zone.
