Wuhan University of Technology (WUT) and Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ) hosted an industrial cooperation conference on Oct 18.

The event featured the signing of 30 key projects involving collaboration among the university, government, enterprises, and investment initiatives, totaling 6.10 billion yuan ($856.98 million).

The investment projects focus on key industries such as new energy vehicles, intelligent networking, and new materials. These initiatives aim to improve the integration of regional innovation and industrial supply chains.

Wang Fazhou, president of WUT, emphasized the university's commitment to six key objectives, including technological innovation, attracting high-end talent, and accelerating technology transfers.

Tang Chao, director of the WEDZ administrative committee, highlighted the robust foundation and collaboration outcomes between WEDZ and WUT, which began with a shared focus on the automotive industry.

Achievements include the establishment of the Wuhan New Energy Vehicle Industrial Technology Research Institute in 2013, the opening of the Junshan Campus in 2022, and the launch of the National Academy for Outstanding Engineers in 2024. A joint master's program with the Paris-Panthéon-Assas University, focusing on big data, artificial intelligence, and cloud computing, also began in 2025.
