Xi'an university wins championships in national competition

Northwestern Polytechnical University's model aircraft team won two championships in the 2025 China Universities Aircraft Design Competition, held from Oct 8 to 13 in Zhejiang province.

The competition attracted nearly 4,000 teachers and students from around 150 universities across the country. Northwestern Polytechnical University won the championship in the unmanned aerial vehicle designated airdrop project and achieved the highest overall score. The team also secured two national first prizes, three second prizes, and three third prizes, achieving outstanding results.

Unmanned drone airdrop technology operates through manual control and requires no complex equipment assistance. The team demonstrated exceptional skill and composure in navigating a series of unforeseen challenges throughout the competition. They completed eight rounds of precise deployment within 5 minutes, securing the championship and becoming the competition's highlight.

The team's mentor said that the competition is not only a stage to showcase students' engineering creativity and practical abilities, but also an important channel for cultivating talents. Through the entire process of design, simulation, manufacturing, and flight testing, participating students have gained comprehensive training in systems engineering thinking, interdisciplinary integration ability, teamwork spirit, and the ability to solve complex engineering problems, laying a solid foundation for "chief engineer type" talents.
