Ordos signs 900m yuan mine water treatment project

Ordo hosted the signing ceremony for the mine drainage centralized treatment demonstration project of Nalinxili mining area on Sept 8.

The project is located in Hongqinghe town, Ejin Horoo Banner, and covers about 200 mu (13.33 hectares) with a designed annual treatment capacity of 35 million metric tons and a total investment of 900 million yuan ($125.35 million).

Construction on the first phase will start in 2026 and finish by 2028.

The project will centralize the collection, treatment, and allocation of mine drainage from four local coal mines, reducing discharge, enhancing recycling, and integrating resources into the city’s water network. It is expected to play a key role in achieving "zero discharge" and maximizing the comprehensive use of mine drainage across Ordos.
