Expat students enjoy Qixi Festival in Dongtou

This Qixi Festival — China's traditional Valentine's Day — expat students from Wenzhou Medical University explored unique traditions preserved by Dongtou, an island district administered by Wenzhou city in East China's Zhejiang province.

For locals, the festival is not only about romance but is also a solemn blessing from fishing families to their children.

Hiba from Morocco and Pardis from Iran joined villagers to experience the customs — discovering just how Dongtou blends love, family and seafaring culture into its own version of Chinese Valentine's Day.
