The Shanxi Central Urban Agglomeration Cultural and Tourism Promotion event  kicked off in Xi'an, Shaanxi province, on August 29.

Led by the Xinzhou Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism and co-organized by the bureaus of culture and tourism from Taiyuan, Jinzhong, Yangquan, and Lyuliang, the event showcases the cultural and tourism appeal of Shanxi.

As part of Shanxi’s central urban agglomeration development strategy, this promotion event highlights the region’s rich cultural and tourist attractions through integrated programming.

Flowing between Shanxi and Shaanxi, the Yellow River is both a border and a bond, nurturing shared customs and traditions on either side.

The event opened with the release of signature souvenirs, immediately enlivening the atmosphere. In the first round of interactive activities, ten Xi’an residents received cultural and tourism gift packages, highlighting the hospitality and offerings of the five central Shanxi cities.

On the map of Shanxi province, the central urban agglomeration shines like a pearl. Comprising Taiyuan, Jinzhong, Xinzhou, Lyuliang, and Yangquan, it spans 74,100 square kilometers and has a permanent population of 16.13 million. With a regional GDP accounting for half of the province's total, it serves as a strong engine for Shanxi's economic development.

Shanxi province places high hopes on the central urban agglomeration, positioning it as an important growth hub for the central region, a service and support area for the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and Xiong'an New Area, a leading demonstration area for high-quality development in Shanxi, and an internationally renowned cultural and tourism destination.

At the event, in addition to an overview of central Shanxi’s cultural and tourism routes for Xi'an residents, cultural and tourism promotion officers from Xinzhou, Taiyuan, Lyuliang, Jinzhong, and Yangquan took the stage one by one. Each delivered city-specific presentations, highlighting their unique cultural and tourism attractions to the audience.
