The 2025 Nantong Micro-Short Drama Week event was launched on August 14 in the Nantong Economic and Technological Development Area (NETDA), a strategic initiative to cultivate the "Filmed in Nantong" micro-drama industrial cluster.
Four key industry elements were unveiled on-site: the Nantong Micro-Short Drama Co-Production Center, Review Service Center, Investment Center, and Digital Photography Center. These initiatives aim to accelerate the establishment of the Yangtze River Delta micro-short drama creation and production base and the Nantong Digital Culture (Video) Industrial Park.
Micro-short dramas have emerged as a potent cultural force through their compact format and concentrated narratives. Industry data reveals a domestic user base of 662 million as of December 2024, complemented by substantial overseas market traction, collectively demonstrating this format's capacity as a versatile cultural vehicle.
This micro-short drama week is Nantong's proactive exploration in building a micro-short drama ecosystem and innovating the digital culture industry.
The event spans four days, featuring a micro-short drama creation and production exchange meeting, a seminar on micro-short dramas empowering urban development, short drama actor auditions, and screenings of outstanding short dramas. On Aug 17, the Hao Shi Film Base in the Nantong Digital Culture (Video) Industrial Park will be open to the public for free.
