The large-scale original ethnic dance drama Hongshan by the Shenyang Conservatory of Music recently premiered at the Liaoning Grand Theater in Shenyang, Liaoning province.

The production recreates the daily life of the Hongshan ancestors from over 5,000 years ago through four chapters. It interprets the Hongshan culture, known as "the first dawn of Chinese civilization", through modern dance.

The show employs cutting-edge technologies, including holographic projection, augmented reality, and intelligent lighting systems, to breathe new life into the ancient Hongshan civilization through the fusion of technology and art. Over 30 dancers create powerful ritual formations that connect heaven and earth through dynamic group choreography, ranging from mysterious and solemn heaven-worshipping ceremonies to graceful and delicate emotional expressions.

Each scene integrates archaeological discoveries with artistic imagination, featuring the precise restoration of Hongshan cultural symbols, such as jade artifacts and painted pottery, while incorporating avant-garde modern dance expressions.

The production was meticulously crafted by the creative team over two years. Following the premiere, the team will refine the work based on stage performance effects and plans to launch a national tour.
