The first modern coal chemical innovation and technology pilot base in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region is nearing completion in Uxin Banner, Ordos city.
Spanning 200,000 square meters, this landmark facility marks a major step in Inner Mongolia's push toward industrial modernization and innovation.
Designed around a full-chain innovation model encompassing research, pilot testing, and industrialization, the base brings together leading scientific institutions such as the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Tsinghua University, along with major industry players including China National Coal Group Corporation.
The project is now entering its final stages. Its main structure has been fully completed, and final adjustments are underway for the power systems. Key equipment, such as dedicated gasifiers and pilot-scale reactors, has entered the installation and commissioning phase.
Seventy percent of the interior work for the comprehensive laboratory building has also been completed, with the entire facility expected to be operational by mid-June.
The project is projected to enable the commercialization of 10 to 15 major technological breakthroughs annually. It is set to become a driving force behind Ordos' trillion-yuan coal chemical industry cluster, fueling sustained innovation and high-quality development across the sector.
