Youyiguan Port boosts export speed

The Youyiguan Port in Pingxiang, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, at the China-Vietnam border, experienced a peak in the clearance of import and export goods during the May Day holiday this year, with an average of 2,200 vehicles passing through daily.

As of May 5, the Youyiguan Port entry and exit frontier inspection station had inspected about 288,000 inbound and outbound freight vehicles this year, an 18.7 percent year-on-year increase.

Busy and fast become the norm and standard at the port, integrating technologies like artificial intelligence and biometric identification reduced freight border inspection time by 75 percent.

The Youyiguan Port Customs launched the smart logistics control platform in 2022, relying on vehicle-mounted Beidou positioning terminals for precise vehicle scheduling.

The intelligent inspection assistance management system launched in 2023, with magnetic sensors determining the availability of inspection bays, the system automatically assigning inspection stations, connecting to mobile phones, and managing the entire process of vehicle entry, docking, and departure in an unmanned manner.

In the first quarter of this year, the total import and export value at the Youyiguan Port reached 130.93 billion yuan ($18 billion), an 18.4 percent year-on-year increase, with exports of electromechanical products amounting to 72.38 billion yuan, a 47.5 percent increase year-on-year, the import and export freight volume reached 1.397 million metric tons, a 39.8 percent increase year-on-year.
