Qinzhou Port in South China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region welcomed this year's first batch of fresh Thai durians on May 6, preceding the upcoming peak season for durians.

After on-site inspection by customs officers, the 20 metric tons of fresh Thai durians that arrived at the port quickly cleared customs through the green channel and will be distributed to supermarkets and fruit markets across the country through the China-ASEAN Fruit Exchange Center in Qinzhou.

According to statistics from Qinzhou Port Customs, 25,000 tons of fruits were imported through Qinzhou Port in 2024, a 22-percent increase compared to the previous year.

The large-scale import of durians not only injects new momentum into the high-quality development of the China-ASEAN Fruit Exchange Center but also presents new challenges for the rapid customs clearance of fruits at the port.

To ensure efficient customs clearance for imported durians, the customs laboratory has arranged for core technical staff to work overtime and strictly follow national food safety standards to conduct rigorous testing on imported durians, seamlessly connecting sampling, preparation, testing, and certification.

The laboratory has expanded its testing capabilities by 214 items through inspection and testing qualification certification and laboratory accreditation expansion reviews, meeting the import fruit food safety testing needs of various ports of the Beibu Gulf.
