The first xenogeneic kidney transplant patient in Asia at Xijing Hospital in Xi'an is showing stable vital signs 60 days after the surgery, with the transplanted kidney functioning normally. This marks a crucial step in China's long-term stability verification of xenotransplantation technology in clinical practice.

Following Academician Dou Kefeng's careful treatment, the patient has survived the two-month danger period, surpassing the world record of 50 days after the first xenogeneic kidney transplantation and 47 days after the second case.

A family member of the patient stated that it was a miracle to see their loved one in good spirits and recovering well within the first 60 days, and hoped this technology could benefit more people in the future.

"The clinical application of xenotransplantation technology requires continuous research and exploration. This innovative research further confirms the possibility and effectiveness of xenotransplantation in clinical practice, providing important theoretical basis and technical support for the future of xenotransplantation," said Dou.

With the iteration of gene-editing technology and the accumulation of clinical data, xenotransplantation will transform from a cutting-edge medical innovation into a practical solution, providing a better prognosis for ESRD patients.
