The Huxuan dance, or the Sogdian Whirling dance, dazzled China after traveling along the ancient Silk Road. Known for its swift, powerful spins on a small round carpet, it reached its peak in the Tang Dynasty (618-907). Celebrated by poet Bai Juyi (772-846), this dance symbolized the passion of xiyu (the Western Regions) and the vibrant spirit of the Tang era — a timeless fusion of cultures still admired today.
