Weichai-BYD Yantai NEV park launches phase I production

The first battery product rolled off the production line on March 28, marking the official commencement of phase I of the Weichai-FinDreams (Yantai) New Energy Power Industry Park project.

Construction on the industry park, carried out by Weichai Group and BYD, commenced in November 2023. It is expected to attract more upstream and downstream supporting enterprises in the new energy vehicle industry chain to Yantai, aiding Shandong province in establishing a cluster of high-end equipment industries.

Since 2010, Weichai Group has established a large-scale production base covering new energy powertrains, motors, motor controllers, and batteries, with industry-leading core performance and reliability indicators.

The newly released battery adopts blade battery technology, featuring high levels of safety, excellent fast charging capabilities, high energy density, high environmental adaptability, and long lifecycle, meeting the diverse demands of different distances, regions, and application scenarios.

Shandong Heavy Industry Group (SHIG), the parent company of Weichai Group, is developing a new energy industry chain encompassing commercial vehicles, construction machinery, agricultural equipment, industrial forklifts, and power systems, according to Ma Shengang, chairman of SHIG. The group is strongly committed to the high-quality development of Shandong's high-end equipment industry, he added.
