Wu Xinming, Party secretary of Nantong in Jiangsu province, met with Christian Levin, CEO of Traton Group and Scania Group, in Rugao, a county-level city in Nantong, on Mach 25.
Wu welcomed Levin and his team and congratulated them on the progress in constructing the Scania project in Rugao.
He said that Nantong is currently seizing significant national strategic opportunities, such as the Yangtze River Delta integration to promote new industrialization and accelerate the development of new-quality productive forces.
Wu added that Scania's production base in Rugao will inject a strong impetus into Nantong's automotive industry development. He also looks forward to further cooperation between the two parties. He promises that the city is set to make every effort to create a first-class business environment, allowing various market entities, including Scania, to invest, start businesses, and develop in Nantong with confidence.
Levin expressed gratitude to Nantong authorities for their support. He mentioned that the high-quality and efficient services provided by the Nantong government have left a deep impression on Scania. He assured the group aims to build the Rugao production base into Scania's most advanced and sustainable global production base.
The Rugao production base is Scania's third global industrial operational center after Europe and South America. The construction has been completed, and equipment debugging and validation are underway. It is expected to be put into operation in the fourth quarter of this year.
