Jinan, capital of Shandong, will drive its high-quality development through major projects, using project construction as an engine to boost investment and economic growth, said Yu Haitian, a deputy to the 14th National People's Congress and mayor of Jinan.
Since 2023, Jinan has made project construction its primary focus. Yu stated that prioritizing major projects as a key driver is a long-term strategy to accelerate the development of a modern, strong provincial capital with high-quality growth.
The city launched over 2,000 major projects each year in both 2023 and 2024 to promote green, low-carbon and high-quality development, with a total investment of nearly 840 billion yuan ($116.12 billion).
With projects driving investment, the city made significant progress in advancing industrial upgrading, improving urban quality, and enhancing livelihoods, said Yu.
In 2025, Jinan will focus on enhancing the quality of projects and plans to attract over 10 new projects, each with an investment of more than 5 billion yuan.
Support will be provided to industrial enterprises in boosting investment in technology upgrades, innovation, and capacity expansion, said Yu. The city will also prioritize projects in service sectors such as research and development, digital technology, modern logistics, and modern commerce, he added.
