Since last year, Tai'an in Shandong province has taken the opportunity to implement the national strategy for the Yellow River and work towards becoming a leading area for green, low-carbon, and high-quality development.

The city has adopted a scientific, precise, and legal approach to pollution control, coordinating efforts to reduce carbon emissions, cut pollution, expand green areas, and promote growth. These efforts have intensified the fight against pollution, fostering high-quality development of the ecological environment.

According to official statistics, a total of 459 million yuan ($63.23 million) has been secured for environmental pollution prevention and control since 2024, providing crucial financial support for the ongoing battle against pollution.

Efforts to promote the development of "Beautiful Tai'an" in a holistic manner are underway, combining development and conservation strategies. The meticulous preparation of the "Outline of Beautiful Tai'an Construction Planning (2023-35)" and the "Implementation Plan for Comprehensive Promotion of Beautiful Tai'an Construction" sets high standards for the initiative.

A key focus is the implementation of 10 major actions for ecological environment protection in the Yellow River Basin, emphasizing comprehensive ecological protection and governance with Taishan Mountain, the Dawen River, and Dongping Lake at the forefront.

Ningyang and Dongping counties have been recognized for their roles in rural ecological revitalization and ecological civilization, respectively, contributing to Tai'an city's progress towards becoming a model in ecological civilization. Progress in biodiversity protection is also notable, with collaborative efforts across departments and channels to promote awareness and engagement in environmental conservation, particularly during events like the International Day for Biological Diversity on May 22 each year.
