This painted pottery pot is typically from the Majiayao Culture (Banshan type). Dating back more than 4,000 years, it has a wide mouth, a short neck, a round belly and two handles.

Black arc motifs adorn the neck. Painted gourd patterns, filled with delicate mesh decorations, are seen on the belly, symbolizing fertility and prosperity in ancient times.

Now housed in Qinghai Provincial Museum, this pot offers a glimpse into the beliefs and artistic expressions of early civilizations in the He-Huang region.
