Hohhot, capital of North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, received over 4.86 million domestic tourists from Jan 28 to Feb 4 during the Spring Festival holiday, a 15.84-percent increase over 2024.
Tourism spending reached 3.43 billion yuan ($470.87 million), up 15.19 percent year-on-year, with 32 of the city's monitored scenic spots receiving 2.39 million visits and generating 96.36 million yuan.
Of the domestic tourists, 3.16 million were day-trip visitors, accounting for 65 percent, while 1.71 million were overnight visitors, making up 35 percent.
Hohhot's tourism market showcased three key trends during the holiday: culture and tourism integration events were held under the title "Joyful Spring Festival, Welcoming Chinese New Year", creating a vibrant festive atmosphere; diverse ice and snow activities boosted the winter economy, which was highlighted by a wide range of winter sports and entertainment activities; and expanded promotional campaigns drove consumption in commercial districts, shopping malls, specialty streets, and tourist attractions, deepening the integration of culture, tourism, and commerce.
