On the first working day of 2025, more than 20 companies registered in the Qingdao Free Trade Zone, covering various fields such as wholesale and retail, scientific research, and information technology. These companies became the first operating entities in the Qingdao FTZ in 2025.
Ms. Liu from Qingdao Zhuo Huisheng Timber Sales Co Ltd shared her excitement, saying that after signing digitally and submitting the application, her company quickly received a business license, marking a good start to the new year.
2024 marked the fifth anniversary of the establishment of the Qingdao FTZ, with continuous growth in the number of enterprises. There were 5,219 new companies established, a 2.01 percent increase year-on-year, while the total number of active companies reached 36,588, growing by 5.44 percent. Foreign-invested companies saw remarkable growth, with 94 new foreign-funded enterprises, a 34.29 percent increase.
The zone has focused on innovation, quality improvement, and higher efficiency, introducing national-level pilot projects such as smart forms and integrated approval services that promote industry clustering and high-quality development. In 2025, the Qingdao FTZ will continue to promote institutional openness and contribute to the high-quality economic and social development of the Qingdao city and Shandong.
