Railway to connect 5 cities in Jiangsu

A mobilization meeting for the construction of the Yancheng-Taizhou-Wuxi-Changzhou-Yixing Railway was held in Taizhou, Jiangsu province, on Dec 27.

As an essential component of the national railway network and a crucial longitudinal passage in Jiangsu's "six vertical and six horizontal" high-speed rail network, the railway is the largest high-speed rail project in the province in terms of self-funded construction investment and linear mileage.

The new mainline spans 311 kilometers, with a design speed of 350 km per hour and 10 stations. Once completed, it will serve as a rapid passenger transport corridor linking southeastern Shandong, northern, central, and southern Jiangsu, and coastal areas of Zhejiang, better supporting the implementation of national strategies such as the Yangtze River Economic Belt and Yangtze River Delta integration.

Governor Xu Kunlin stated that in recent years, Jiangsu has been stepping up investments, developments, and enhancements to railways, solidifying the province's status as a transportation powerhouse.

The commencement of the railway construction is a major part of Jiangsu's efforts to promote sustained economic recovery and improvement, accelerate the establishment of a modern integrated transportation system, and provide high-quality travel services for the people along the route, he added.

After the meeting, Xin Changxing, Party secretary of Jiangsu, visited the pharmaceutical and health industry innovation center of Peking University Health Science Center in Taizhou and Nestle Health Science (China) Co to learn about the local biomedical and big health industries.
