Jinan authorities released a bundle of measures on Dec 27 to boost inbound tourism in line with the 240-hour visa-free transit policy.

Thirteen initiatives across six areas have been introduced to optimize visa and customs policies, enhance tourism services, and create a high-quality environment to support the growth of inbound tourism.

The city's 104 cultural and tourism entities, including five-star hotels, 4A-level attractions, and national tourism leisure areas, installed 293 point-of-sale machines for foreign cards and set up 19 currency exchange sites.

A series of inbound tourism products featuring spring water culture have been launched, targeting key markets such as Japan, South Korea, and Singapore. They involve hot springs, cultural heritage, resorts, educational tours and more.

Passengers who are transiting through the Yaoqiang International Airport under the 240-hour visa-free policy can enjoy a one-night free stay at a boutique hotel.

Jinan, capital of Shandong province, which is included in China's visa-free transit policy, offers international travelers a unique opportunity to explore the city without the hassle of a visa.

When a traveler has a ticket to a third country or region, he or she can enter Jinan through Jinan Yaoqiang International Airport and stay for up to 10 days, according to the 240-hour visa-free transit policy released by the National Immigration Administration on Dec 17.

Official data showed that nearly 100,000 foreign visitors arrived in Jinan for temporary stays in 2024, a year-on-year increase of 62.87 percent. From January to November, Jinan Yaoqiang International Airport handled 717,400 entries and exits, reflecting a year-on-year growth of 248.8 percent.
