Jinan ranks 15th on China's advanced manufacturing cites list

Jinan, capital of Shandong province, ranked 15th on the list of the top 100 cities in advanced manufacturing in 2024, according to the 2024 Advanced Manufacturing City Report released at the Advanced Manufacturing Development Conference on Dec 25.

The ranking is made by the market research institute CCID Consulting based on the city's development level in five key areas– innovation capacity, integrated development, economic impact, brand quality, and green efficiency. A total of 13 cities in Shandong made the list.

In recent years, Jinan has been making strong efforts to develop its advanced manufacturing industry, creating a favorable business environment for the sector through a series of supportive policies.

Official data show that the city's advanced manufacturing industry accounts for more than 60 percent of the manufacturing industry. The city issued a three-year action plan (2023-25) for promoting the development of its industries. According to the plan, the revenue of the city's industries above designated size is expected to reach one trillion yuan ($140 billion) by the end of the three-year period.
