Wenzhou now offers direct flights to Singapore, with the inaugural GJ8797 flight by Loong Air departing from Wenzhou Longwan International Airport at 10:50 am on Dec 24.
This marks the first direct passenger route to Singapore from southern Zhejiang province and makes Wenzhou the third city in Zhejiang with this connection.
Operating thrice weekly (Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday), the five-hour flight aligns with the recent visa-free travel policy between China and Singapore, allowing streamlined travel and mutual stays of up to 30 days.
The maiden return flight brought Singaporean tourists and hometown visitors for a 6-day trip to Wenzhou, furthering cultural exchange and economic ties.
Wenzhou Longwan International Airport has also opened routes to destinations like Rome, Milan, and Seoul, and joined the 240-hour visa-free transit program, boosting its role as a key international gateway. The airport has set new records, handling over 12.2 million passengers and 125,000 metric tons of cargo in 2024, underscoring Wenzhou's growing global connectivity.
