The Innovation Center Phase I of the Science Island of the Wuhan East Lake High-tech Development Zone (Optics Valley of China, or OVC) opened on Dec 5.
This marks a significant milestone in Wuhan New City's journey towards becoming a beacon of technological innovation. Over 10 pioneering enterprises have signed agreements to establish their presence in the center.
The innovation center, a landmark project of OVC Science Island, began construction in May 2022. It covers a total floor area of 220,000 square meters and features shared office spaces, talent apartments, and employee dining facilities.

The center is designed to be a pilot and demonstration zone for Wuhan New City, aiming to foster innovation and attract leading tech companies. It has now fully launched its leasing activities.
"The center's intelligent shared conference room is a model for smart office solutions in Hubei industrial parks. It allows users to book via an app and activate the projector, lights, and air conditioning five minutes before a meeting," said an official of the center. The center also introduces autonomous vehicles for cleaning, retail, and shuttle services, meeting various needs for cleanliness, shopping, and commuting.
As Hubei province's first Huawei smart industrial park, the center employs advanced technologies such as AI, HarmonyOS, Wi-Fi 7, and F5G all-optical networks. In collaboration with Huawei, it has established an intelligent operations center, three business domains, a digital platform, a smart network, and several intelligent terminals to build a high-speed, intelligent, green smart park.
