The "Taste of China" Global Green Coffee Beans Competition took place from Nov 22 to 24 at Hongqiao Pinhui (Hongqiao Import Commodity Exhibition and Trade Center), showcasing 82 green coffee beans from 16 countries. This event was China's first international competition of its kind, with over half of the world's coffee-producing countries represented.

China's growing coffee market raises the question of when local tastes will define what makes good coffee. To explore this, the competition brought together 150 professional baristas and 50 public judges to evaluate the beans, combining consumer preferences with international standards to establish a unique Chinese rating system.

Hongqiao International Coffee Harbor at Hongqiao Pinhui, the competition venue, is known for promoting coffee imports from countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative and Silk Road e-commerce partners.

Zhu Jing, deputy general manager of Hongqiao Pinhui, hopes the competition will attract business interest, foster trade cooperation, and encourage more estates to participate in future events, allowing consumers to enjoy coffee certified by the "Taste of China".
