Christian Wulff, former president of Germany, visited Hangzhou on Nov 20 with a 40-member delegation, focusing on Qiantang district's dynamic industries, local media outlets reported.

His half-day tour included stops at the East Bay New City and China Pharma Port, home to nearly 1,800 biopharmaceutical companies.

Wulff, a recipient of China's Friendship Award, has a long history of ties with Hangzhou and is now making his fourth visit to the city. He praised Qiantang's economic vitality, emphasizing opportunities for collaboration in high-end manufacturing, digital economy, and biopharmaceuticals.

During his visit, Wulff explored the area's innovative ecosystem, including the Pharma Port's "six-chain integration" model and highlighted its global cooperation potential. He also expressed interest in deepening ties between Hangzhou and his hometown, Hanover.

Qiantang, a hub for over 1,600 foreign-funded enterprises, continues to attract significant international investment, with foreign capital inflows reaching $24 billion over the past three years.
