The GDP of Nantong in Jiangsu province increased 6.3 percent year-on-year in the first three quarters of this year, the city's statistics authorities said on Oct 28.
The Chinese city's GDP reached 941.44 billion yuan ($132.29 billion) from January to September, according to the municipal bureau of statistics.
Key industries in Nantong showed robust growth in the first nine months of the year. The manufacturing of chemical fiber, chemical raw material and products, and special equipment saw increases of 16.3 percent, 12.9 percent, and 12.1 percent year-on-year. In comparison, the private industrial enterprises above designated size grew 9.8 percent compared with the same period last year.
From January to August, the operating income of service industry enterprises above a designated size in the city reached 77.48 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 4.6 percent. Among them, the top 100 enterprises achieved an operating income of 37.58 billion yuan, up 8.1 percent from the previous year.
In the first three quarters of this year, the per capita disposable income of residents in Nantong was 41,533 yuan, a year-on-year increase of 5.2 percent. That of urban and rural residents was 50,138 yuan and 26,295 yuan, respectively, year-on-year increases of 4.6 percent and 6.4 percent.
