The 2024 AIPPI World Congress concluded in Hangzhou on Oct 22, following four days of discussions. A key outcome of the event was the approval of the 2024 AIPPI Hangzhou Resolution, passed by the AIPPI Executive Committee.

The resolution addresses four major topics: International Coordination of Disclosure Requirements and Consequences of Non-Compliance, Conflicts in Combination Trademarks with Non-Distinctive Elements, Parody Defense in Copyright, and Baseless Intellectual Property Infringement Claims. These areas cover patents, trademarks, copyrights, and enforcement.

The resolution will be officially released in two weeks and submitted to international organizations such as the World Intellectual Property Organization, World Trade Organization, and legislative and judicial bodies globally. It is expected to guide future IP laws and policies.

Over the course of the congress, approximately 2,300 intellectual property professionals from 92 countries gathered in Hangzhou, participating in around 100 sessions on the theme of Balanced Protection and Innovative Development of Intellectual Property. The event fostered international collaboration and inspired new ideas in the field of IP.
