Harbin, in Northeast China's Heilongjiang province, was one of the first cities to receive the prestigious "International Wetland City" designation. On Oct 15, it participated in the 2024 Roundtable of Wetland City Mayors in Dongying, Shandong province.

This is Harbin's third participation in the mayors' roundtable, following previous meetings in Suncheon, South Korea, and Amiens, France.

The conference has brought together 220 leaders, experts, and representatives from 31 cities across seven countries, including China, Japan, South Korea, Hungary, France, Rwanda, and Morocco.

The meeting, themed "Wetlands Nourish Cities, Creating a Better Future Together," aimed to establish a platform for international exchanges and cooperation among wetland cities.

Participants shared advanced experiences in wetland protection and management. They discussed strategies to address global challenges such as climate change and biodiversity conservation, promoting the sustainable use and protection of wetland resources.

The Harbin delegation gained valuable insights into the achievements and experiences of domestic and international wetland cities in restoring wetlands and protecting biodiversity.

They have also absorbed global perspectives on fostering harmonious coexistence between cities, wetlands, humans, and nature.

Participants were committed to further strengthening collaboration and cooperation, advancing global wetland conservation efforts to new heights.
