During this National Day holiday from Oct 1 to 7, the "culture and tourism+" initiative in Taiyuan, capital of North China's Shanxi province, promoted the city's abundant cultural and tourism resources, attracting many domestic and international tourists.

According to the Taiyuan bureau of culture and tourism, the city's main scenic areas received 10.11 million visitors during the National Day holiday, a 91 percent increase over the previous year.

Taiyuan has hosted 32 concerts in 2024, with nearly 1 million attendees, reflecting a 55 percent and 100 percent increase from 20 concerts and 500,000 attendees in 2023, respectively.

Furthermore, the concerts in Taiyuan have generated comprehensive economic benefits, with a total consumption of 4.1 billion yuan ($576.03 million).

This includes ticket revenue of 1.04 billion yuan, accommodation revenue of 700 million yuan, and catering revenue of 339 million yuan. Other sources include shopping and entertainment revenue of 1.19 billion yuan, local transportation revenue of 194 million yuan, and other revenue of 634 million yuan.

This year, the game Black Myth: Wukong has popularized Shanxi's traditional cultural tours, ancient city tours, and museum tours.

During the National Day holiday, Taiyuan hosted over 600 cultural and tourism activities, incorporating elements of Black Myth: Wukong and embracing tourists brought by this popular game.

Data from China's online travel agent, Tongcheng, showed that Taiyuan ranked among the top 10 popular domestic tourist destinations during the National Day holiday. The number of visitors booking Taiyuan tourism products through Tongcheng reached 393,400, a 58.11 percent increase from 2019.
