Taiyuan cultural heritages sites are Mid-Autumn Festival hit

Taiyuan city's cultural heritage sites and museums were a big hit during the recent Mid-Autumn Festival holiday – receiving 245,800 visits and generating ticket revenue of 2.69 million yuan ($380,666).

During the three-day holiday on Sept 15-17, the capital of North China's Shanxi province opened 21 cultural heritage sites to the public and offered various exhibitions and activities to welcome visitors from all over the country.

One of them was Jinci Temple Museum, which presented a series of thrilling performances of traditional Chinese culture. It also organized games such as pitch-pou, archery and cuju to showcase the richness of historical and cultural heritage – allowing visitors to experience the charms of traditional Chinese culture.

Elsewhere, Taishan Museum combined cultural relics with garden landscapes, presenting stories about cultural relics through performances and games. The shadow play series of the classical 16th century Chinese novel Journey to the West performed at the museum was well-received by many visitors.

In addition, virtual tours and live streaming tours of museums provided immersive digital theaters, digital caves and holographic images – providing enthusiasts with a fascinating experience at home.

Overall, Taiyuan's cultural and museum tourism has remained particularly popular in the current year. To date, the city's cultural heritage sites and museums have received 9.05 million visits, representing a whopping year-on-year growth of 41.77 percent and 67.02 percent, respectively.
