Xi'an listed as most popular tourist destination during holiday

On Sept 17, Travel portals Ctrip and Fliggy released the 2024 Mid-Autumn Festival Holiday Travel Summary and 2024 Mid-Autumn Festival Holiday Travel Quick Report, respectively.

The data revealed that Xi'an continued to top the list as the most popular tourist destination nationwide, making it among the top 10 cities for the self-driving reunions of the Mid-Autumn Festival.

Traditional cultural activities such as lantern festivals, fireworks displays, boating and enjoying the moon, and hanfu garden tours became the preferred choices for tourists during this year's Mid-Autumn Festival.

These activities allowed visitors to experience the charm of China's outstanding traditional culture and significantly boosted the popularity of destinations like Xi'an.

During the Mid-Autumn Festival, Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, Shenzhen, and Guangzhou were the primary sources of tourists to Xi'an.

Popular attractions in Xi'an included Emperor Qinshihuang's Mausoleum Site Museum, Huaqing Palace, the Xi'an Bell and Drum Towers, Daming Palace National Heritage Park, and the Xi'an City Wall.

Huaqing Palace launched a series of immersive cultural experiences, such as stone rubbings, lacquer fans, and paintings.

According to Ctrip's car rental data, inbound tourism orders in Shaanxi province during the holiday increased by 55 percent compared to the Dragon Boat Festival holiday, while Xi'an's inbound tourism orders increased by 48 percent.
