Focus on 'Guilin Classics' brand: Bajiaozhai village

The second batch of "Guilin Classics" brands was announced on Sept 4, with "Zishui Danxia" making the list.

Located in the northern part of Meixi town, Ziyuan county, Guilin, bordering Xinning county, Hunan province, the Bajiaozhai village was formed between 135 million and 65 million years ago in the Cretaceous strata. It serves as a life record of the Cretaceous strata, exhibiting a richness and quality of development that is rare worldwide. Experts have hailed it as the "soul of Danxia, a national treasure."

The Bajiaozhai village is nestled within the 125 square kilometers of the Danxia mountains, boasting hundreds of distinctive peaks and rocks. This makes it a veritable "natural Danxia geological museum." It is considered the largest, most comprehensive, and most beautiful Danxia landform scenic area in China, featuring over 130 scenic spots.

In 2023, Ziyuan county received a total of 7.58 million visitors, a 58.9 percent increase compared to the previous year, with many coming to admire the Danxia scenery. The total tourism revenue reached 7.74 billion yuan ($1.09 billion), a 43.4 percent increase year-on-year.
