On Sept 4, Datong customs issued Shanxi province's first self-printed Certificate of Origin under the "China-ASEAN Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Framework Agreement" for exports to Malaysia. This certificate allows Datong-based Qianyeyide Import and Export Trade Co to enjoy tariff reductions under the RCEP agreement on products such as paper tableware and plastic lids valued at 83,000 yuan ($11,668).

To ensure that enterprises benefit from this policy, Datong customs swiftly organized a team of experts to use big data to identify local foreign trade companies exporting to ASEAN countries. They then conducted targeted policy briefings and business training, combining online video conferences with on-site policy delivery. This approach helped resolve companies' challenges with self-printing and guided them in utilizing the new policy to expand internationally.

As a result, the number of companies eligible for self-printing Certificates of Origin in the Datong region has increased to 21, and the self-printing rate has reached 96.3 percent.

According to a Datong customs representative, the next steps will focus on enhancing service and regulatory efficiency, further improving the business environment at the port, and supporting more trade enterprises as they enter global markets.
