The 2024 Inclusion Conference on the Bund was held in Shanghai from Sept 5 to 7, with Tesla showcasing its Cybertruck and Optimus humanoid robot.

Tesla emphasized that it is more than a mere automaker; it is a high-tech enterprise that values both hardware and software. Tesla's software not only powers autonomous driving and artificial intelligence but also supports the operation of vehicles, energy storage devices, and solar products.

Tesla's robots utilize the same FSD system as its cars. The company has applied automotive training techniques to robots, leveraging sensors and computer vision, along with massive data for continuous training, to make robots increasingly sophisticated. With 28 degrees of freedom throughout the body and 11 in the hands, the robot's biomimetic joint design gives it great flexibility, allowing it to clearly recognize surrounding objects and move with finesse.

Tesla aims to drastically reduce the cost of its robots. Achieving this requires ongoing manufacturing innovations to ensure quality and efficiency while also drastically cutting costs. Tesla expects to begin limited production of humanoid robots next year, with over 1,000 Optimus robots assisting in production tasks at Tesla factories.

Elon Musk, founder of Tesla, predicts that in the future, humanoid robots will become the main driver of industry. Tesla aims to produce 1 billion robots annually, capturing over 10 percent of the market.
