Datong hosts 1st Shanxi Silk Road International Culture and Arts Festival

On Aug 3, the first Shanxi Silk Road International Culture and Arts Festival and Sino-Foreign Exchange Carnival commenced in Datong city – located North China's Shanxi province.

The ongoing event has brought together guests from all over the world to experience a cultural extravaganza in the historic city.

The opening ceremony featured the official flag presentation of the Silk Road International Culture and Arts Festival and the gifting of calligraphy and paintings by renowned contemporary artists to the organizing committee.

The festivities kicked off with a vibrant opening dance, followed by a series of captivating performances including songs, dances and traditional Chinese magic.

The powerful vocals, graceful choreography and great ancient magic tricks captivated the audience, earning their enthusiastic applause.

The festival, running to Aug 17, aims to highlight the rich history and culture of the Silk Road, showcase Datong's special charms and foster cultural exchanges and integration.

Through a variety of artistic performances, exhibitions, international exchanges, markets and culinary delights, the event is seeking to promote the Belt and Road Initiative, strengthen cultural diplomacy and enhance the Silk Road as a symbol of Chinese culture.
