UNESCO official impressed by Lingqu Canal

"The Lingqu Canal is a very interesting human endeavor, more than 2,000 years old," said Shahbaz Khan, director of the UNESCO Regional Office for East Asia. During his visit to the Lingqu Canal in Xing’an county, Guilin, he experienced the use of the water level measurement column in the canal and marveled at the ingenuity of the ancient Chinese.
