The grand opening of the Xi'an Silk Road International Tourism Expo at the Xi'an International Convention and Exhibition Center on Aug 9 delivered a cultural feast, with 164 delegations and 793 companies participating.
The expo showcased global tourism resources across 42,000 square meters of exhibition space, divided into two indoor and one outdoor hall. Hall one served as the communication and cooperation hall, featuring an area for international exchanges, an area for domestic provinces and cities, and an area for cities in Shaanxi.
Hall two focused on tourism products with six major areas for tourism destinations: "tourism+", tourist facilities and services, smart tourism, intangible cultural heritage, cultural and creative products, and a tourism product market.
The outdoor hall featured sections for self-driving and camping equipment, outdoor sports gear, and an outdoor equipment market showcasing advanced gear that enticed outdoor enthusiasts to participate in live experiences.
In addition to the main venue, the expo included 30 branch venues throughout Shaanxi province, aimed at promoting effective integration and coordinated development of regional cultural and tourism resources through diverse promotional activities.
At such a significant event as the expo, the Shaanxi Provincial Cultural and Tourism Industry Investment and Financing Promotion Conference promoted key tourism projects such as cultural heritage preservation, creative tourism, smart scenic spots, and unique accommodations.
Among the 228 key cultural and tourism investment projects, totaling 77.65 billion yuan ($10.82 billion), 46 of these projects were signed on-site.
After a decade of development, the Xi'an Silk Road International Tourism Expo has become the largest, most recognized, and globally influential tourism event in West China, opening a new window for investors in the cultural and tourism industry.
