Optics valley launches 'talent train' to attract young graduates

The Wuhan East Lake High-tech Development Zone (also known as Optics Valley of China, or OVC), a renowned hub for innovation and entrepreneurship, launched a "Talent Train" initiative to attract top graduates from prestigious universities across China on Aug 8.

From September to October, leading companies in OVC will hold special recruitment events at Tsinghua University, Fudan University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and other institutions, seeking talented individuals in fields such as microelectronics and new materials.

Students who express preliminary interest in employment at the recruitment events will receive a "Talent Train Card" which allows them to travel free of charge to OVC, where they can participate in a three-day program designed to showcase the zone's vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem.

The program includes various activities under the categories of "life", "work", "culture" and "entertainment". Participants will have the opportunity to interact with company leaders, visit iconic landmarks, explore Wuhan's culture, and experience the local way of life in OVC. All expenses, including transportation, accommodation and insurance, will be covered by OVC.

This initiative comes at a time when OVC's economy is thriving, with a particular demand for young talents in strategic emerging industries like chips, networks and life sciences. Over the past seven years, OVC has attracted over 600,000 university graduates to work or start businesses. In the first half of this year, over 8,000 students from renowned universities participated in 14 recruitment events held by OVC.

Furthermore, OVC offers rent-free accommodation for up to seven days for job-seeking graduates, and master's and doctoral students can enjoy three months of free accommodation while interning or pursuing practical experience in OVC.
