The Baotou Central Hospital Minimally Invasive Surgery Clinical Research Institute and the Surgical Robot 5G Remote Training Center were recently inaugurated.

On the day of the inauguration, Baotou Central Hospital conducted a live broadcast of a surgery performed using its 5G surgical robot. Liu Ming, director of the Urology Department of Beijing Hospital, and Bai Xuewei, director of the General Surgery Department II at the Qunli Branch of the First Affiliated Hospital of Harbin Medical University, were invited to perform a laparoscopic ureteral reimplantation and a pancreaticoduodenectomy, respectively.

Ma Xudong, deputy director of the Urology Department at Beijing Hospital, said, "Today's surgeries require high precision in suturing. The robot provides a wider field of vision, making operations more flexible and precise, ensuring better postoperative anti-reflux and kidney function protection for patients."

The robot used by the Baotou Central Hospital is the first four-arm endoscopic surgery robot in China. With its 5G communication technology, doctors can remotely control the robot to perform surgeries.

"Compared to traditional laparoscopic minimally invasive surgery, surgical robots offer greater flexibility and comfort for patients. They can reduce surgical incisions, shorten postoperative recovery time, and decrease postoperative complications. The use of robot-assisted surgery is a rising trend in surgical procedures," said Liang Lu, director of Baotou Central Hospital.
