Over the past three years, Jinan has been dedicated to enhancing its internationalization efforts and fostering a welcoming environment for expatriates to live, work, and study, with 116 projects completed, according to a news conference held by the Jinan Municipal People's Government on July 30.
These projects include 24 foreign service hubs, eight international talent clubs, nine international communities, 10 international sister city gardens, 10 schools with international education environment, five standardized international medical service units, 12 homes for expats, 18 international language environment projects, and 20 Sino-foreign friendship exchange projects.
In addition, a project to enhance the international language environment has been implemented, resulting in comprehensive bilingual (or multilingual) signage coverage on main roads, important public areas, and key scenic spots in Jinan. The city's foreign-related service capabilities have been enhanced, including the establishment of a 12345 citizen service foreign language hotline.
Jinan has introduced an action plan (2021-23) and a three-year plan (2024-26) focusing on enhancing the construction of a sound environment for expats to live, work, and study in Jinan. Various departments and districts have devised specific work plans, establishing a collaborative framework.
Following the three-year action plan (2024-26), Jinan is set to advance the construction of the expat environment, targeting six key areas: work suitability, living conditions, studying opportunities, medical care, leisure provisions, and integration. The goal is to develop more exemplary projects and enhance Jinan's level of internationalization.
