The Shanghai Hongqiao International Central Business District recently organized a special session on overseas talent policies at the Hongqiao International Talent Service Center in a bid to attract and support global talent while enhancing the overall experience for foreign talent residing there.
Representatives from 11 countries attended the session, where public security authorities elaborated on policies concerning immigration, traffic management, pet regulations, and more. During the event, over 20 foreign talents received the new version of China's Foreign Permanent Resident ID Card, known as the "Five-Star Card".
The "Five-Star Card" has been in use since Dec 1, 2023. Issued by the National Immigration Administration, it serves as a legal identity document for foreigners with permanent residency in China, eliminating the need to present their passports. It optimizes information storage, enhances layout aesthetics, incorporates advanced anti-counterfeiting technologies, and strengthens personal data protection and security.
The Hongqiao International Talent Service Center primarily serves talent from overseas, offering a range of governmental and market-oriented services. Providing comprehensive support in governance, lifestyle, and entrepreneurship, the center serves as a hub for international talents, especially those in the Yangtze River Delta region.
In addition to business-related governmental services, the center offers talent policy consultations, immigration management advice, and expedited customs clearance. It collaborates with professional service enterprises to provide comprehensive services in human resources, entrepreneurship, healthcare, finance, foreign language education, and translation.
